Turn a feature claim into a test request

Ask the seller to identify the exact connection being offered: Bluetooth calls, Bluetooth audio, wired projection, wireless projection or a separately installed accessory. Record the vehicle generation, original market and any head-unit replacement. Do not infer compatibility from a USB socket, screen size or a CarPlay logo shown in an unrelated advert.

The general cabin review establishes the surrounding equipment. This checklist narrows the task to the phone connection itself. Before testing, agree which phone, operating-system version and cable or accessory will be used. A result from one combination should be described as that result, not as proof that every buyer's device will work.

Check pairing and everyday Bluetooth use

With the vehicle safely parked, ask the operator to pair an authorised test phone using the applicable instructions. Demonstrate a call with a consenting contact and test both the microphone and the cabin audio. Play a permitted audio sample, then check the ordinary controls the customer will use. Note dropouts, unexpected volume changes or controls that do not respond.

Disconnect and reconnect through the normal process. If pairing fails, record the error and conditions before deciding which component is at fault. A phone permission setting, previous pairing state or vehicle configuration may need investigation. Do not describe one failed attempt as a known model-wide defect, and do not accept one successful song as a complete test of calling.

Verify projection separately when it is advertised

Ask for a demonstration using the claimed wired or wireless method. Check that the supported projection interface actually opens and that the agreed functions respond. Distinguish native vehicle functionality from a separate adapter or replacement head unit. The offer should say which equipment is included and who provides support for it.

If the seller can only demonstrate Bluetooth, leave CarPlay or Android Auto unconfirmed. It is better to request another suitable candidate than to promise a feature based on a future conversion with no defined provider. Use the language checks separately: the language of a projected phone app does not establish the language of vehicle menus or instruments.

For a Geely alternative, the phone and vehicle purchase comparison demonstrates the required actual function rather than assuming a regional projection package applies to every related China-market name.

Keep the test realistic and repeatable

Use the intended cable and port, and record which port was used. Charging alone is not evidence that a data connection or projection service is supported. If an accessory is involved, note its model and how it receives power. Avoid building a buyer promise around a temporary demonstration setup that will not be supplied with the car.

Repeat a normal restart and reconnect cycle according to the vehicle instructions. Confirm whether manual reconnection is needed and explain that behaviour accurately. Test the fitted camera and steering controls after accessory work where relevant, without assuming the accessory is responsible for every unrelated fault. A qualified installer should investigate any interaction before the vehicle is accepted.

Protect personal data during handover

Use a test device containing no private customer messages or sensitive account information. Do not request the seller's personal login credentials. After the demonstration, remove test pairing and locally stored test information through the supported settings. The outgoing owner should handle personal accounts and any required ownership transfer through the appropriate provider.

Do not promise that a generic reset will transfer every online service. Document which services are available locally, which need account arrangements and which are outside the offer. The remote video checklist can help preserve a clear demonstration without exposing contact lists, private conversations or unrelated customer records in a shared inspection file.

Write a precise connectivity description

A useful sales description names the function and the tested setup: Bluetooth calling demonstrated with the recorded phone, or wired projection demonstrated through the supplied connection. Add any required accessory and its support scope. Where testing remains incomplete, retain that status instead of describing compatibility as guaranteed.

For a new stock vehicle, include this demonstration in delivery checks. For a used vehicle, ask about aftermarket changes and repeat the test after any agreed repair. When buying several cars, retain a result for each installed system. Similar dashboards and matching model years do not replace a working demonstration of the equipment being sold.
